I received a Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Regina and a PhD in Applied Psychology from the University of Toronto (OISE). I went on to be registered as a Psychologist in Ontario. Psychology was my chosen profession and I’ve taken great satisfaction from it over the years.
I have been in full time private practice since 2006. Prior to that I was employed for more than 20 years at Sunnybrook Health Sciences in Toronto. I have also worked at several other hospitals in Toronto and at an adult mental health clinic in Regina.
My approach to psychotherapy has been influenced by experiences with existential/humanistic, short-term psychodynamic, object relations, family systems, and Jungian approaches. I have, in my turn, provided a number of budding psychologists with supervision.
In addition to my clinical work, I was active as a researcher and writer for many years, publishing more than 100 papers and giving numerous public talks. I was an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. I resigned from the academic life when I moved to full time private practice and am glad to be doing what I’m doing now.
